"be careful what you wish for"
Is this the most annoying, lazy and stupid statement mad by pundits and BFS lovers?

I mean it doesn't really make sense when you think about it.

All of us that 'wish' Sam would fuck off would also 'wish' that a better manager was put in his place.

We ain't wishing for him to fuck off and then be replaced by a Roeder type are we?

Stupid cunts.

Lets hope they twist instead of sticking - never know with our Dave's and Brady - looks like it could be Bilic which is a gamble but he could bring some tasty eastern European players our way to shore up our defence and add some creativity to the middle - a Modric type or two would go down well.

Re: "be careful what you wish for"
Curbishley was abused and hounded out in a similar way to Sam and we ended up with the grinning chimp, Zola.. I think that's what the phrase effectively means.

Re: "be careful what you wish for"
Which is why the phrase doesn't make sense.

None of us were wishing for an ex chelsea managerial novice to replace Curbs was we?

Re: "be careful what you wish for"
It's got nothing to do with wishing for worse, you donut, which is why it is 'careful wht you wish for' and not 'don't wish for shit stuff to happen'.

We have in the past wanted better and ended up with worse. Newcastle are relegation candidates Sunday for the same reason.

If you can't work out a simple fucking term of phrase then you're the sort of moron that it really should apply to.

Re: "be careful what you wish for"
Yea very lazy bullshit saying, with football the only certainty is if you are a very rich club you will avoid relegation , otherwise relegation is always a possibility Big Sams supporters may see a solid man who will keep us in the right place but his detractors and I am one see a man who is a game or three from getting us relegated .

I would sit here and argue with a random bloke on the internet but unlike other people on this site it gives me no satisfaction.

Good night to you sir.

No need to call me sir, but goodnight.

>>> Curbishley was abused and hounded out in a similar way to Sam...

No he wasn't. Curbs left of his own accord having fallen out behind the scenes. It was nothing to do with the fans who were largely supportive.

And I should add if Sam goes he has hardly been hounded out and abused either. He's not employed by fans.

Re: "be careful what you wish for"
It has a clear enough meaning as a saying (grass not always greener etc) but wildly overused in this context.

The general level of support for Fatty by those in the game illustrates perfectly the mutual back slapping mentality and why they are not qualified to provide impartial opinions on events.

I think Alvin and Martin Samuel are the only football people I've read who have supported change. Maybe I've just missed the others.

Well in the early 80's one Christmas I wished for a Rubik's Cube and I got one.

I truly wish I could have been more careful, HA.

''Curbishley was abused and hounded out in a similar way to Sam''

Not even 'Sam' has been abused and hounded out, let alone Curbishley. One of the most idiotic things I've read on here.

Sven Roeder 7:39 Sat May 23
Re: "be careful what you wish for"
To be honest none of our recent managers have been 'abused & hounded out'.
I think in the current situation the majority just think Sam has done his job and that he isn't the right man for the future.

Ronald_antly 8:01 Sat May 23
Re: "be careful what you wish for"
Sam hasn't been hounded out yet, but if he goes he will have been.

Surely you can't claim that "Fuck off out of my club ,you fat cunt" is another way of saying "You have done your job, but I no longer feel you are the right man for the future.".

That definitely sounds like a damn good hounding when repeated many times, which it has been.

Re: "be careful what you wish for"
Don't be absurd Ronald, hus contract has run out, so how in the name of merry fuck has he been hounded out?

Cunt should have been.

Re: "be careful what you wish for"
I don't particularly pay much attention to a few dozen people ranting on a website.
There has been next to no disquiet at matches.
To me 'hounding out' is sustained demonstrations , chanting and banners at games ending up with the stuff that Allardyce and Pardew got at Newcastle.

Sven

I haven't been to a game in nearly three years, so I'll admit that you are better placed to gauge sentiment at the ground.
However, given the strength of feeling expressed on here, I find it hard to believe that he doesn't cop an ear bashing from the stands.
Where do you sit?

His contract may be ending, but his desire to renew may have severely diminished as a result of the situation I alluded to.

fraser 8:44 Sat May 23
Re: "be careful what you wish for"
I doubt what he desires comes into it. I desire loads, doesn't mean it will happen.

Re: "be careful what you wish for"
I'm in the lower tier of the Betway stand towards the Bobby Moore end so reasonably close to the manager.
Apart from a couple of banners at the Everton game and a few grumbles in the crowd there certainly hasn't been any concerted anti-Sam stuff at home.
It's been more of a disgruntled boredom if I had to describe the atmosphere
